We are delighted to announce the launch of this semester’s edition of The Inkwell, ‘Confessions’, taking place at Dragonfly Cocktail Bar on the 9th of December.
‘Confessions’ features twenty revelatory written pieces, as well as beguiling illustrations and photography from six artists. Excerpts from four poems appear below.
The dress code for this event is black with pops of red. This is mostly optional, but we would appreciate some adherence.
Tickets are £3 for members, £5 for non-members, and can be purchased on the EUSA website.
Date: December 9, 19:00
Location: Dragonfly Cocktail Bar, 52 West Port, Edinburgh, EH1 2LD

Orla McLaughlin-Borlace
I touched my own pulse,
and it felt foreign,
like a name I hadn’t said aloud in years.
Look Homeward, Angel
Maeve Sheridan
I’ll go west in autumn, knowing that I’ll
never hear his hoarse voice call me angel
again,
He Waters The Kettle
Benjamin Freckelton
A little water, from the cold tap.
A dash, added, cools it down.
No boiling. No steam. Less sweat—no sweat.
And The Priest Replied
Alice Grubb
if you survive the violet night,
begin by opening the window
between your teeth. Let hunger in
to do its simple work.
